LBs Association Attention to Government for Election

Associations of Local Bodies (ALB) have demanded implementation of the report submitted by Local Level Restructuring Commission (LLRC) and the announcement of local elections at the earliest. A joint delegation of Association of District Development Committee (ADDCN), Municipality Association of Nepal (MuAN) and National Association of VDCs in Nepal (NAVIN) handed over the memorandum to the Minister of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD), Mr. Hit Raj Pandey on 18 January. The team also announced their commitment to support the elections. During the meeting, the Minister remarked that, “Ministry has been studying the LLRC report and we will submit it to council of ministers very soon”. He also said that government had been consulting with political parties to create a conducive environment for elections. Government will announce the date for elections after the LLRC report is endorsed.
The local bodies association directed the attention of the Ministry to revise the second amendment of Forest Act 2073, which has removed various right of the local bodies.
Executive Secretaries of the local bodies, Mr. Shesh Raman Neupane (ADDCN), Mr. Kalanidhi Devkota (MuAN), and Mr. Bimal Pokharel (NAVIN) were in the delegation along with the Spokesperson of ADDCN, Mr. Krishna Prasad Jaishi, Mr. Madhav Paudel, General Secretary, Mr. Bhim Prasad Dhungana, of NAVIN, and Mr. Ashok Benju who is General Secretary of MuAN.
